DAPTO'S Kerrie Pendred shouldn't have been surprised when her miniature horse Adonis took out the Grand Champion award at the Royal Easter Show.

After all, he has an impeccable pedigree.

"His dad won the award four times in a row, and his brother has won the gelding class for the last two years," Ms Pendred said.

Adonis' proud owner explained that just competing at the Royal Easter Show was a victory in itself.

Only horses with a proven prize-winning record are invited to participate.

"It's the best of the best," Ms Pendred said.

While Ms Pendred found the Easter Show atmosphere "intimidating", 15-month-old Adonis took the win in his stride.

After countless awards from shows around NSW, he has grown quite accustomed to feeling the podium beneath his hooves.

"There's only two or three (competitions) where he hasn't won, and he is always placed," Ms Pendred said.

"He's been winning since he was three weeks old," she said.
